Three militants, soldier killed in Pulwama encounter

Srinagar: Three unidentified militants and a solider were killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and armed forces in Zadoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district between the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, officials said.
 
A senior police official said that three unidentified militants were killed while as a soldier was critically injured in an exchange of fire between government forces and militants in Zadoora Pull area.

Three militants have been killed whose identity is being ascertained, the official said adding that the soldier was critically injured and was shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar for treatment.

He however succumbed to his injuries.
  
Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, army’s 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
 
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

This is the second encounter in less than 24 hrs in south Kashmir as on Friday four militants were killed in a gunfight in Shopian district. (KNO)
