Three dead, five injured in Kupwara road mishap

Srinagar, May 28: Three persons were killed and four others were injured after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Chowkibal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Official sources said that today at about 1:30 pm in Manshtar area of Chowkibal, a load carrier (JK02AF-2207) skidded off the road and fell into a deep nallah.
In the mishap, a minor boy identified as Parvez Ahmad Khawaja (23) son of Mohammad Yousuf Khowaja died on the spot while as Rayees Ahmad Sheikh (14) son of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh of Dardpora and Ishfaq Khatana son of Abdul Rashid of Satboyen Dardpora succumbed later in the hospital, they said.
Four other persons travelling in the vehicle also suffered critical injuries, they said.
All the injured have been shifted to sub-district hospital Kupwara where from they have been referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment, they said.
The critically injured persons have been identified as Altaf Ahmad Khawaja, Shabir Ahmad Khawaja, Javid Ahmad Khawaja and Mohd Aslam Khatana, they said.
They were travelling towards Behaks (temporary shelter during summer in forests) at Bungus Valley in the frontier district when the mishap occurred, they said.
