Srinagar, Dec 6: Next time you visit Lal Ded Hospital, be sure your belongings don’t get stolen. A number of attendants Thursday alleged that their shoes, and blankets were stolen in the wards of the hospital while authorities neither took their complaint seriously nor were ready to peep through CCTV footage.

“We had a patient Nahida Akhtar admitted in ward number103 of Lal Ded Hospital. My two blankets were stolen from the ward. After enquiry, I was told by patients and attendants that it is a routine matter in the hospital,” Khalid Yousuf from Sumbal Sonawari said.
He alleged that hospital administration declined to show him the CCTV footage. “I was told CCTV footage is meant for security purposes and not for ‘immaterial’ things,” he added.

Another attendant hailing from Bandipora alleged that his expensive shoes were also stolen by someone in the hospital. “It is not the question of blanket or shoes. The question is why things are being stolen in the hospital and why can’t hospital administration act against the culprits,” he said.

When contacted, an official from LD administration said that he will look into the matter.
