The Browser Company has officially launched its new AI-powered web browser called Dia, aiming to redefine the browsing experience with a built-in chatbot that can interact with and process information across multiple open tabs. The browser is currently available in beta and limited to Arc members using macOS 14 or newer devices powered by Apple’s M1 chip or later.
This launch comes eight months after the company decided to discontinue its earlier project, the Arc browser, citing difficulties in scaling it for a broader user base. Unlike Arc, Dia adopts a more conventional interface with horizontal tabs placed at the top of the window, while its core innovation lies in the integrated AI assistant docked on the right panel of the screen.
First teased in December 2024, Dia’s AI assistant acts as a centralized intelligence engine within the browser. It allows users to query information from multiple tabs simultaneously, offering responses based on all the content currently open. The company described Dia as a browser that “already knows everything” as long as the relevant information is visible in one of the tabs.
The assistant can perform a variety of tasks such as summarizing web pages and YouTube videos, rewriting emails and messages, comparing products across tabs with custom tables and charts, translating foreign language pages, and even answering user questions about content they’re viewing. A new feature in development, called History, will allow users to ask questions about previously visited tabs by typing @History in the text field. This optional feature is disabled by default and once enabled, it could support queries like “What videos did I watch yesterday?”
The early access version of Dia is now available exclusively to Arc members. Users can download it from the official Dia website and will need to create a Dia account using their Arc-linked email address.
