Srinagar, Dec 24: The residents of Mughalpora village in north Kashmir’s Tangmarg area up in arms against Power Development Department (PDD)  for failing to repair damaged transformer of their locality.

They said the area has been reeling under complete darkness for the past eight days and alleged that the department had failed to repair the transformer.

“One transformer of capacity 63 kilowatts has been damaged eight days ago and PDD is not paying any heed to the issue,” said Ghulam Mohammad, a local resident.

“We many times requested PDD authorities to replace the low capacity transformer of the village with a high one so that it can bear the load of all households of the village but all in vain as our pleas fell on deaf ears,” the locals said.

Official sources said that they have received a fully damaged transformer from the area and it will take some time to repair it.

When contacted Assistant Engineer, PDD, Ishfaq Ahmad said the transformer has been shifted to a workshop in Pampore and will take few days.
