Soura residents protest against lack of electricity

Srinagar, Feb 8: The residents of Dr. Ali Jan road Soura continued their protest  on second day against lack of electricity in the area.

The protestors said that Power Development Department(PDD) has failed to repair the transformer, which developed snag 11 days ago.

Locals have been protesting as they face immense inconvienances during the harsh winter.

Altaf Ahmad,a local resident said,“There are near about 250 households which rely on a single transformer that often causes develops snag due to loadshedding. ”

“Only few days ago PDD installed an old and repaired transformer, which developed snag also,”  he added

Meanwhile Chief Engineer PDD Hashmat Qazi said ,“The residents demand of a new transformer  cant be met due to lack of feasibility”.

He added, “I will look into the matter and restore the electricity as soon as possible”.
