Soura observes shutdown

Srinagar, Mar 13: After the killing of three local militants in South Kashmir Encounter with one of them hailing from Buchpora Ahmednagar area, the Soura and its adjoining areas Tuesday observed shutdown for second consecutive day.

Esa Fazili, a B.Tech Student turned Militant killed in the encounter hailed from Ahmednagar area.

However, there were reports of stone pelting early morning from 90 feet area.

Pertinently, Militant outfit Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TeM) paid rich tribute to the three militants and claimed

Eisa Fazili was its district commander for Srinagar.

Markets in Ganderbal and Kangan towns also remained closed for the second day. The students of Degree College Ganderbal assembled outside the college gate and staged a protest. Public transport remained off the roads in these areas while private vehicles plied normally in the area.

At few spots in the Soura to Ahmednagar area, protestors clashed with government forces who responded by firing tear gas to disperse them.

Reports state Residents from the area said clashes erupted between protestors and forces at Sabzi Mandi Soura, while angry protestors also clashed with SSB men at Ahmednagar.

Fazili was killed along with two associates in a gunfight with the government forces in Hakoora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district in the wee hours on Monday.
