SRINAGAR, APRIL 05: To provide efficient patient care services SKIMS MC upgraded various facilities in the Department of Psychiatry, SKIMS Medical College.
The upgraded facilities include TMS (repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Machine placed in Neuromodulation Centre, the machine is meant for Non-Invasive treatment of depression and is first of its kind in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides, the addition of DB-80 coil specifically meant for Obsessive Compulsive disorders (OCD) along with ultraflex arm, would enhance the number of treatment sessions on a particular day especially for patients with Depressive, OCD and Anxiety Disorders. Also the procedure Ultra Brief Electro convulsive Therapy is now available in general operation theatre settings. It has added advantage of choosing any strength of stimuli at a given point of time especially for the patients who are at high risk and who have multiple comorbidities.
The other facilities available are tDCS (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation), Multi Modal Behavoiral therapy, Nuero Bio feedback, Updated Psychology Lab for
Psychological Assessments, IQ Assessment , Psycho-diagnostics, Psychological Interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Motivational Enhancement Therapy & Relapse Prevention and addiction Treatment Facility.
The Department of Psychiatry SKIMS MC Bemina is also providing OPD services on all working days at Room No. 9. The patients can avail all these facilities after consulting the experts in the said OPD.
