Shah Faesal, who claimed quitting Civil Services to swim the waters of Kashmir politics only to paddle back to safer shores, is attempting a meekish return to bureaucracy — courtesy his tweets, which garner a mixture of shock and surprise in Kashmir and elsewhere.

On Sunday, as PM Narendra Modi addressed the country in his weekly Mann ki Baat, Faesal seemingly was blown away by it.

Sharing this PMO India tweet “#MannKiBaat is a great learning experience for me, says PM @narendramodi”, Shah Faesal wrote: “It is like 1.3 Billion people coming together as a family on a Sunday morning and each one being heard and spoken to, each one feeling counted. My take away from this program: Communication can build solidarities and make a nation ‘sound’ like a family.”

And that was it. Faesal’s tweeted opened a Pandoras box for him as netizens questioned his wavering stance.

“I have only one question to you. Which is the real Shah Faisal, the one who resigned from the civil service and was talking about self determination for kashmiris or the one now, talking about the greatness of Man Ki Baat and success of governance of present Modi Govt,” tweeted one user Balakrishnan K.

Another user Neha @Solankineha wrote: “You should write a book on your journey..I would love to read about this transformation because it’s hard to believe otherwise.”

On January 22, Faesal had praised India’s vaccination program while sharing PM Modi’s tweet.

“This is more than just a vaccination program. It’s good governance + human capital formation + nation building + India assuming global leadership as a Jagat Guru,” Faesal had tweeted.
