Competitive books youth’s favorite reads these days

Srinagar, Jan 17: Book sellers in Srinagar are witnessing a huge demand from the youth for any and all material regarding competitive exams.
Most of the book sellers in Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas witness a rush of students, majority of whom look for books they can study to crack competitive exams.
A visit to various book sellers of Lal Chowk, one finds that most of the students prefer to study for competitive exams. They usually study books on general awareness followed by general aptitude and reasoning.
Zahoor Ahmad, a salesman at Kapoor and Sons Lal Chowk said, “Students especially those who have cleared class 12 and graduates mostly prepare themselves for different competitive exams.”
Another bookseller, Hilal Ahmad of Mamta Book Depot echoed the same views: “The graph of selling competitive books is increasing day by day as majority of the students are preparing for competitive exams.”
“Similarly, the competition for any entrance exams or civil service exams is rising up for a few years now as many of the students are focused towards their careers,” he said.
Ask students and they say that competitive exams are the best way to get into Government Service.
“I am preparing for JKSSB and I prefer to study publications of Arihant and R Gupta, as it gives brief information of Jammu and Kashmir topology,” said Adil Rashid student of Government Degree College Ganderbal (GDC).
“Not only hard work but smarts work pays off,” says Rayees another student, who says he has recently qualified the exam of Ministry of Civil Defence.
