Rs 1 lakh assistance given to pellet-hit Hiba

Srinagar, Nov 30:The government on Friday provided assistance of Rs 1 lakh to 18-month-old Hiba Nisar, who was shot at with pellets fired by government forces in her right eye on November 25 at her home in south Kashmir’s Shopian.

The State Human Rights Commission on Tuesday had issued notice to the police and the district administration, directing them to file a detailed report to explain how the baby received the pellet injury in her eye.

An official spokesperson said that Deputy Commissioner Shopian DrOwais Ahmed Friday provided a financial assistance of Rs 1lakh to Hiba Nisar, daughter of Nisar Ahmad, a resident of Kapran.

According to the District Administration Shopian, the 18-month girl child’s eye got “accidentally injured” in a pellet firing incident.

DC assured Hiba’s parents that Government would provide the baby girl with all kind of support possible for her early recovery.
