Radio Kashmiris now‘AIR Srinagar’

Srinagar, Oct 31: As Jammu and Kashmir state officially became two Union Territories on Thursday,the Government of India also changed the name of Radio Kashmir to All India Radio.

“With the approval of PrasarBharati Board, the nomenclature has been changed from ‘Radio Kashmir’ to ‘All India Radio’ in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh,” said the twitter handle of PrasarBharati on Thursday.

This change comes into effect from October 31, 2019, the missive said.

PrasarBharati News Services also tweeted that Radio Stations in Jammu, Srinagar and Leh have been renamed as All India Radio, Jammu; All India Radio, Srinagar and All India Radio Leh respectively.

“Radio Stations in Jammu, Srinagar and Leh have been renamed as All India Radio, Jammu; All India Radio, Srinagar; and All India Radio Leh, respectively,” the tweet stated.

Instead of two channels Radio Kashmir Jammu and radio Kashmir Srinagar, now there are three channels: AIR Jammu, AIR Srinagar, AIR Leh. Radio Kashmir Jammu used to broadcast in Dogri, Urdu and Hindi and Radio Kashmir Srinagar in Kashmiri, Urdu and Hindi.
