Srinagar, Apr 1: Former J&K Chief Minister and vice president of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah Monday said the posts of Sadar-e-Riyasat (President) and Wazir-e-Azam (Prime Minister) will be brought back.

During a rally in Bandipora Omar said, “Other states joined the Union of India without any conditions. However Jammu and Kashmir acceded with certain conditions. Those included our own identity, own constitution. At that time we had our own ‘Sadar-e-Riyasat’ and ‘Wazir-e-Azam’. Inshallah, we will bring that back too.”

Omar reiterated that if Article 35A is revoked, J&K’s relationship with India will come to an end.

“J&K has acceded with India that our state will be given special status. If Article 35A is revoked, J&K’s relation with India will come to end,” he said.

Omar was reacting to BJP president Amit Shah, who claimed they will abrogate Article 35A by 2020.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has also claimed that Article 35A and article 370, which restricts non-permanent residents to buy property in Jammu and Kashmir, was “constitutionally vulnerable and also hampering economic development of the state”.

Omar appealed people don’t trust those leaders who have “worsened” the situation over the years.

“From GST to reduction in ration distribution to the eligibility in APL and BPL to the unemployment, everything has made the life of poor people very challenging,” the former chief minister, said.
Omar also lashed out at Mehbooba Mufti over her claims that her party will lift ban on JKLF and JeI if it comes to the power.

“The ban on JeI and JKLF has been imposed by the Centre not by the state government. Mehbooba is lying that she will lift the ban on JKLF and JEI. We have to involve the Centre to lift the ban,” he said.

Omar also said that if his party comes into power, it will also remove Public Safety act (PSA), which has made the life of younger generation a nightmare. “Within days of coming to power, we will throw out PSA from the books of law,” he said.
