‘Muharram’: Director Health Services holds meeting with NGOs

SRINAGAR, JUNE 25: Dr. Jehangir Bakshi, Director Health Services Kashmir, today convened a key coordination meeting with representatives of NGOs involved in Muharram processions, at the Old Secretariat, Srinagar. The meeting was held to review and discuss the healthcare arrangements being made across the Kashmir Division during the upcoming sacred month of Muharram.

During the interaction, Dr. Bakshi emphasized the health department’s commitment to providing full medical support to all mourners participating in Muharram processions and attending Majlis programs. He reiterated that the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir will ensure timely and efficient deployment of medical teams, ambulances, essential supplies, and other emergency medical services across all districts. The Director assured the NGOs of full support and cooperation from the health department during the religious observances. He also acknowledged the important role played by NGOs in assisting with on-ground operations and community outreach during Muharram.

As part of the preparations, a separate meeting was earlier convened by Dr. Bakshi with all Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of Kashmir Division. In that meeting, each district presented its detailed action plan outlining the proposed deployment of: Medical staff and first responders, Ambulance services, Medical supply stockpiles, Health camps and emergency aid points
