Srinagar, Feb 10:  The local meteorological department has predicted another spell of rains and snowfall across Kashmir from Feb 13 to 15th.

“We are expecting another spell of rain in plains and snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu, kashmir & parts of Ladakh region during 13-15th,” Director, MeT, Sonum Lotus said.

He said that, “this spell will be of lower intensity and snow accumulation than the previous one. Light snow on western parts of Jmu & kmr may commence on 12th late night or 13th early morning & will increase in intensity & distribution as the day progresses. Looks like, this will be followed by another spell around 18-19th Feb.”

Sonum said that this year, the onset of winter in J&K was ahead of normal time as the region received very heavy snowfall in the first week of Nov. “This was followed by frequent strong WDs in Jan. and Feb which led to excess winter precipitation over the state. Most of the weather Models are showing frequent spells of WDs in whole Feb. which means expect more precipitation in coming weeks,” he said.
