Srinagar, Feb 26: Accusing the PDP leader Sartaj Madni’s son of holding “fake” degrees, opposition National Conference on Monday demanded a judicial probe into the alleged “backdoor” appointments in the government departments and corporations.
Day after Aroot Madni, son of PDP leader Sartaj Madni, declined to accept the controversial appointment as Executive Officer in Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board, NC leaders Tanvir Sadiq and Junaid Azim Mattu accused him of holding “fake degree certificates”.
“Madni’s refusal to join the KVIB does not exonerate him. He did not backtrack on moral grounds, but because he is holding fake certificates and does not want to face the probe. He shall show his degree certificates. In the last 40 years, he did not qualify any exams and now cracked the competitive examinations,” Sadiq told a press conference here.
He said the business partner of a PDP leader was also in the KVIB list.
“Fraud has been committed, and whoever did it, has to go to jail,” he said.
He claimed that rules were not followed in conducting the exams to allow “back door appointments”.
“The contract for holding examination was given to a New Delhi-based agency without following formalities,” he said.
There has been outcry after Madni son figured in the list to the post of Executive Officer, while nephew of another PDP leader Peerzada Mansoor Hussain is in the waiting list for the post of Assistant Executive Officer.
On Sunday, Chief Minister said the Chief Secretary, B B Vyas, would probe the matter.
However, the NC demanded a “court-monitored probe” into the alleged backdoor appointments in the last three years.
“No high-level probe by the Chief Minister will suffice, as she is allegedly involved in facilitating backdoor appointments of cousins, kin of party leaders, and her close aides in various departments. Every department has been turned into a PDP wing. Chief Minister should also take a call whether she should resign,” Mattu said.
He said the government has made “backdoor appointment” of relatives of PDP leaders and aides in various departments.
“In Social Welfare and various other departments, a PDP leader’s daughter, MLA Tral’s daughter, an MLA’s nephew, a minister’s cousins, and Sartaj Madni’s daughter-in-law have been adjusted. Aseia Naqash has made dozens of backdoor appointments and we have ample proof against her,” Mattu, who is the spokesperson of NC, said.
The NC leader also accused illegal appointments in Waqaf Board, JK Sports Council, and JK Bank.
“Secretary Sports Council Waheed Parra is asking police to arrest youth and then make their release for political interests. There is massive bungling and backdoor appointments,” he accused.
Mattu said the ruling parties were distributing scheme funds among their own workers.
“The present dispensation is pushing youth to the wall,” he added.
