Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast cloudy skies with light rain and thunderstorms over North and Central Kashmir this afternoon, along with gusty winds.
However, a more significant weather disturbance is expected between April 18 and 20, with widespread light to moderate rain and snow over higher reaches, particularly affecting most parts of the Union Territory. The Met Department has also warned of moderate to heavy rain at isolated to scattered locations, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially on April 18 and 19.
Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural activities during this period, and the public is urged to follow official advisories from the administration and traffic authorities.
There is a chance of moderate snowfall over higher elevations on April 19, and potential risks of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas.
Post April 20, the weather is expected to improve:
- April 21: Generally cloudy with chances of light rain/thunder at scattered places.
- April 22–27: Mostly dry weather forecast across the region.
