SRINAGAR, JULY 26: As a follow-up to the recent initiative by The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and The Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to forge a partnership to boost Kashmir’s jewellery industry, the KCCI and GJEPC moved ahead to nurture the growth of Kashmir’s jewellery sector. In this context, a meeting organised by the GJEPC Regional Office in Delhi brought together industry leaders, including Anil Sankhwal, GJEPC COA Member and Director of IIGJ-RLC and IIGJ-D, and The KCCI President Javid Ahmed Tenga, to explore collaboration opportunities.
The partnership aims to enhance jewellery exports from Kashmir by providing comprehensive support, including training, market access, and industry exposure. As a result of the collaboration, the KCCI committed to participating in the upcoming India International Jewellery Show-Premiere 2024 and also expressed interest in organising outreach programs in Srinagar. Additionally, a group of aspiring jewellery designers from Kashmir will undergo training at the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery Delhi.
This strategic alliance marks a significant step towards empowering the jewellery industry in Kashmir and unlocking its potential in global markets. Sanjeev Bhatia, Assistant Director Northern Region, presented an overview of the GJEPC activities, its membership strength, and details of the Council’s three IIJS shows. The President of KCCI thanked GJEPC for their keen interest in the development of the jewellery industry in Kashmir. The consultative meeting was also attended by the KCCI Treasurer, Zubair Mahajan.
