Srinagar, May 06: Ahead of the opening of government office in Kashmir in the wake of ‘Darbar move’ on Monday, the Joint Hurriyat have asked people to move towards Civil Secretariat on and stage peaceful protests against what it called ‘brutal’ nonstop killing of civilians.
In a tweet, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman Hurriyat conference and one of the members of the Joint Hurriyat which also includes Syed Ali Geelani and Yasin Malik, said the protest strike will continue till the brutal killings are not stopped.
“Words fail to express the pain of the tragedy unfolding in #Shopian as the count of the brutally killed by Indian forces keeps rising!,” Mirwaiz said in a tweet, adding, “Tomorrow as the Durbar of our killers opens in Srinagar, leadership and people from all walks, traders, lawyers, students, employees and others will move towards civil secretariat and will sit in a peaceful dharna till the daily carnage is not stopped. The protest strike will continue.”
Expressing strong resentment and anger over the bloodbath by the forces in Shopian, Joint Hurriyat Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik on Sunday said that the indiscriminate manner in which Kashmiri are killed daily has the go ahead from New Delhi that has given full authority to its forces to empty the barrels of their guns on Kashmiris at will, as was again witnessed in Shopian on Sunday.
The spokesman said there is no remorse any regret by the perpetrators at these gruesome killings and in fact, they are justified as if Kashmiris are not humans but serfs of India who have to be crushed and taught the lesson in servility.
The Joint Hurriyat said that while the protest strike will continue on Sunday people can move towards the secretariat in their private vehicles or on foot peacefully and with discipline.
Paying rich tributes to five armed youth including the professor of Kashmir University leadership said that ultimate repression and iron fist policy of New Delhi with the support of local collaborators have made educated and budding youth take to arms.
“All means of peaceful protests or expression of resistance have been choked leaving the youth of Kashmir with the choice to pick up arms as a means of resistance against violence which then leads to their martyrdom,” he said.
