BUDGAM, MARCH 25: The Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) Block BK Pora, in collaboration with the Health Department, organized a health camp for Self-Help Group (SHG) members in BK Pora, District Budgam. This initiative offered free medical check-ups and medications to SHG members.
As part of a larger initiative across the UT of J&K, led by Mission Director JKRLM, Dr. Shubhra Sharma, to provide accessible healthcare services directly to members, the event received an overwhelming response from the SHG members of BK Pora Block. The camp was organized at Aribagh Kanipora, with a team from CHC Chattergam, including Medical Officer Dr. Rukhsana, Medical Officer RBSK Dr. Shabnum Akhter, and the paramedical staff. At the outset, BMO BK Pora Dr. GulAfroz Khuru presided over the event, offering valuable insights on health and hygiene for the participants. She stressed that women often tend to overlook their own health while focusing on the well-being of their families, and urged them to prioritize self-care. Dr. GulAfroz also emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups and maintaining proper hygiene as key factors in preventing common health issues.
SHG members praised the efforts of the MD JKRLM for bringing healthcare facilities to their doorsteps. They expressed that it is a thoughtful initiative on the part of the MD JKRLM to prioritize their health concerns and think about their well-being besides the core activity of financial empowerment of the members. Providing details, Block Program Manager BK Pora, Madina Bukhari, emphasized that, under the leadership of Mission Director Dr. Shubhra Sharma, JKRLM has initiated a series of free health check-up camps across the Union Territory in collaboration with the J&K Health Department. The main goal of these camps is to enhance the health and well-being of rural women, who are a key component of JKRLM’s network and play an essential role in promoting community-driven developmental changes. She expressed her gratitude to Mission Director JKRLM, and District Health Department Budgam for their swift collaboration in organizing the medical camp.
