JKLF holds prayers-in-absentia for Reyaz Dar

Srinagar, Aug 14: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front leaders and activists on Tuesday offered funeral prayers in absentia for Reyaz Ahmed Dar, a close associate of JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, in Srinagar.

The JKLF spokesman said that scores of the people gathered at Maisuma Srinagar and offered funeral prayers in absentia in respect of slain Reyaz Ahmad Dar who breathed his last on Tuesday at Muzaffar Abad, in Pakistan administered Kashmir.

JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Bashir Kashmiri also participated in the funeral prayers.

According to the spokesman, Dar was a close associate of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and remained in jail for 14 years.

“Deceased Riyaz Dar was a close associate of Shaheed Baba-I-Qoum Muhammad Maqbool Butt who at the age of 16, came to Kashmir in 1976 along with Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed and JKLF senior vice chairman Abdul Hamid Butt and strived for freedom before being arrested by Indian forces at Langate Kupwara,” the JKLF spokesman said.
