IN FRAMES: Kashmir joins relief efforts for quake-hit Turkey, Syria

The earthquake in Turkey and Syria has brought back the horrors of the 2005 Kashmir quake prompting civil society and NGOs to step up relief efforts for people in the two countries.

People have donated clothes, blankets and other items for Turkey and Syria earthquake victims, at Beshambar Nagar in Srinagar on Monday.

More than 34,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on Monday last.
