I-League: Real Kashmir to clash with Chennai today

Coimbatore, Dec 21: Visitors Real Kashmir FC is all set to lock horns with unbeaten Chennai City FC on Saturday, with huge crowd expected to watch the match.

It will be the third away match for the guest team, which currently on fourth position with 14 points.

The team started its outside state leg with a draw against Malabarians, Gokulam Kerala FC, which the team management believes had lifted morale of its players.

Head Coach RKFC David Robertson said the atmosphere in his camp is positive for today’s match considering the performance against Gokulam last week.

“Conditions are good here and it entirely will be a new experience for my players. In all the games we created chances and we hope to convert them into goals in upcoming games,” he said.

Coach Robertson said the morale of his players was high in the backdrop of team’s performance in away matches.

“Away games have been good for us as we have lost two games in the state only. We had a decent start since the beginning and then defensive side has become strong with introduction of Kofi,” he said.

RKFC head coach said that playing against Chennai City FC will be a kind of challenge for his team.

“I watched their few of the games and they played very differently. Their players have a great movement. They push a ball towards front, which can be dangerous,” he said.

Claiming his squad was fit for the upcoming match, he looked at the contest as 50-50 game.

“Every game is 50-50 unless you don’t score a goal. We hope it is 60-40 tomorrow and we win it,” he quipped.

When asked head Coach Chennai City FC, Akbar Nawas about I- League debutants, he said the team was competitive enough to win the league.

“I don’t see Real Kashmir as a new team to join the league. They are capable to win the league. We as a team don’t look where we are on the table. Every match is a challenge for us,” he said.

“They have a very good and experienced coach and foreigners who are capable to turn the game their way,” he said.

Coach Nawas said his team won’t have any change for today’s match.

“The squad will be the same. We have picked raw players and incoming time you will see how these players will perform,” he said.

Meanwhile, the stadium is all set to host the match, with official having made all arrange possible for Saturday’s big match.

An official said that spectators in thousand already have expressed their desire to watch the match by availing tickets.

“A sea of people will be tomorrow in the stadium to watch the match. Its holiday tomorrow, which means the aura will be very loud,” he said.
