Human Rights Week: Joint Hurriyat holds candle-light vigils in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 05: Joint Hurriyat on Wednesday evening held candle light protests in different parts of Kashmir valley in connection with ‘Human Rights Week’.
Joint Hurriyat spokesperson said people from several places including Wanganpora Eidgah, Chattabal, Anchar Soura, Nasrullah pora Budgam and other places staged candle light protests against the ongoing “human rights abuses in Kashmir.”
Joint Hurriyat comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik has called for peaceful protests against human rights violations in Kashmir.
They have urged people to lit candles and torchlights after evening prayers during the week to highlight human rights abuses.

Mirwaiz condemns nocturnal raids, arrests

Srinagar, Dec 05: Hurriyat conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday condemned the “nocturnal raids” and the “arrests” of resistance activists in Srinagar in connection with human rights week
Taking to social networking site Twitter, Mirwaiz wrote: “Nocturnal raids by police on resistance activists and people’s homes in Srinagar city in connection with Human Rights Week!Family members ruthlessly beaten and harassed,activists arrested while others on the run! What state aggression!Even Peaceful candle light protests against.”
“Human Rights abuses a threat to the mighty rulers whose standard response is repression repression and still more repression!” Mirwaiz wrote on Twitter.
Joint Hurriyat Leadership has urged people to observe ‘Human rights week’ from December 3.

 

Police arrest Khan from his Srinagar office

Srinagar, Dec 05: In connection with the World Human Rights Day, the police detained Kashmir Economic Alliance Chairperson, Haji Muhammad Yasin Khan from his office in Lalchowk Srinagar,the spokesman said.
“Khan, who also heads the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation as whisked away to Kothi Bagh  Police Station soon after he reached his office,” the spokesman in a statement said.
Joint Resistance Leadership had given call for peaceful protests against human rights violations in Kashmir.
Meanwhile the spokesman of the KEA and KTMF has condemned the police action.
