Srinagar: Social media has emerged as a promising frontier for political parties to woo the electorate, particularly the GenZ and first-timers.
With elections just days away, the political parties have intensified their campaigning across Jammu and Kashmir to ensure presence among the people.
As such these parties are competing against each other on social media platforms to garner maximum support from the people.
With internet penetration growing, major political players, including the National Conference, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), have launched digital campaigns tailored to highlight their manifestos, achievements, and promises.
Leaders are conducting live sessions, virtual rallies, and Q&A interactions with the public to ensure a constant digital presence. The use of hashtags, viral videos, and online polls has also added a dynamic element to traditional campaigning methods.
BJP, which so far has released six lists of candidates, is presenting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the face of its online campaigns.
On all the social media handles including Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube, advertisements of BJP are popping up in which the party seeks support from netizens for implementing PM Modi’s vision.
“It is a digital age today and such online platforms are proving beneficial in every aspect. We are also making use of this medium to put our agenda in front of maximum people. Our candidates are utilizing their individual social media handles to convey their message to the maximum people,” Arun Gupta state Spokesperson for BJP said.
The National Conference too is increasingly adopting digital tools to campaign for its candidates.
.
From videos of rallies to a message by the leader, the party is taking support of social media to influence the people.
“Our party vice-president Omar Abdullah is very active on social media. So are our other candidates who know the power of social media. It is not possible to reach every person in a stipulated time, so social media is helpful for wider reach of the message,” a senior NC leader said.
PDP, which has been a former ally of the BJP, too is leveraging social media this assembly election to garner maximum support from the voters.
