Srinagar: Flights for Hajj 2025 are set to commence from May 4 from Srinagar to Saudi Arabia, with the last batch of pilgrims scheduled to depart by May 15. In preparation for the annual pilgrimage, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday to review and finalize the arrangements, directing all departments and agencies to work in coordination for a seamless and hassle-free experience for the pilgrims.
Bidhuri emphasized the importance of meticulous planning, instructing officials to step up preparations for smooth departure and boarding processes. Deputy Commissioners of all districts in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, along with senior officers from departments including Police, Emigration, Customs, Health, Transport, and the Airports Authority of India, participated in the review meeting.
He urged the immediate activation of Hajj Cells in district offices to oversee and facilitate all necessary arrangements. The Health Department was instructed to establish vaccination camps across districts to ensure timely immunization of pilgrims, with certificates issued well before departure.
To address financial requirements, J&K Bank was asked to ensure sufficient foreign exchange availability at the Hajj House in Bemina and at the Srinagar Airport to facilitate easy currency exchange. Civil departments including PHE, KPDCL, and Srinagar Municipal Corporation were directed to ensure uninterrupted water supply, electricity, and sanitation services at the Hajj House.
Bidhuri also called for the prompt repair of interior roads to ensure a smooth ride for pilgrims and directed the setup of adequate boarding and lodging facilities, especially for those arriving from Jammu and Ladakh. Special arrangements by Customs and Immigration departments were also stressed to guarantee swift processing at the airport, with timely installation of X-ray machines and deployment of technical staff at Hajj House.
