Srinagar, Jan 11: Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed the responsibility of the grenade attack on a CRPF bunker at Lal Chowk in Srinagar early Friday evening.
A JeM spokesperson Mohammad Hassan said the attack was in revenge for its slain commander Nasir Khan alias Abdul Rehman, news agency GNS quoted from a Jaish statement.
“There was a grenade attack on 132 BN of CRPF at Palladium. No loss of life reported,” said Sanjay Sharma, PRO CRPF.
Meanwhile, police on Friday arrested two persons and claimed recovering arms and ammunition from their possession.
An official said that a naka was held near Dilshan Hotel in Shalteng on the outskirts of Srinagar by Cargo Srinagar and, during the checking, two people were held with arms and ammunition in a vehicle under registration number JK 13 C 2094.
“The arms include AK 47-1, INSAS 01, and a hand grenade, besides arms, rupees five lakh cash were also recovered from them,” the official said.
