Escape of Naveed Jatt: NIA files charge-sheet against four accused

Srinagar, Aug 03: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge-sheet in NIA Special Court in Jammu against four persons allegedly involved in Lashkar militant Naveed Jatt’s escape from SMHS Hospital earlier this year.
A statement issued by the India’s premier investigation agency said it filed a charge-sheet at NIA Special Court, Jammu against Mohd Tika Khan, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Syed Tajmul Islam Kirmani, and Mohd Shafi Wani into the escape of LeT militant Mohd Naveed Jatt @ Abu Hanjulla.
The statement said during the investigation it was found that the “escape was in furtherance of a well-planned criminal conspiracy hatched among Mohd Naveed Jatt @ Abu Hanjulla @ Munna @ Chhota s/o Mohammad Hanief Jatt r/o Chak No-421/EB Boruhwala, District Vehari Multan, Punjab, Pakistan, Hilal Ahmad Rather, Mohd Tika Khan, Shakeel Ahmad Bhatt, Syed Tajmul Islam Kirmani @ Kachroo, Mohd Shafi Wani all residents of different villages in Kakapora Tehsil of Pulwama District (J&K).”
The agency, in its Investigation, claimed that the accused conducted meetings in the Central Jail, Srinagar on different dates before the incident and a ‘comprehensive plan was made to effect the escape of LeT militant Mohd Naveed Jatt.’
“As per the plan and in furtherance of the criminal conspiracy the accused conducted a detailed recce of the SMHS Hospital as well as routes to be followed before and after the action,” it said, adding the accused also arranged vehicles and weapons to be used in execution of the plan.
“During investigation, accused Mohd Tika Khan, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Syed Tajmul Islam Kirmani and Mohd. Shafi Wani were arrested,” it said.
It said LeT militant Mohd Naveed Jatt @ Abu Hanjulla and other accused Hilal Ahmad Rather are absconding, against whom non bailable warrants have been issued by the NIA Special Court.
“After the completion of investigation, NIA filed a charge-sheet against all the above mention six accused. Further investigation is continuing,” it added.
On February 6 Naveed Jatt escaped while he was being taken for medical treatment at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS), Srinagar, killing two police personnel of the escort party in the incident.
