DyCM hands-over LPG connections to beneficiaries under PMUY

JAMMU, MAY 27- Terming Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) a key initiative taken by the Centre Government to empower the women folk of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families by providing them free of cost LPG connections, the Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta said that smoke-free kitchen in households will help in maintaining healthy environ, besides protect the health of women and reduce health hazards.
Deputy Chief Minister said this while distributing LPG connections to beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Gandhi Nagar constituency, here today.
As many as 42 number of LPG connections with other related accessories were handed over to the beneficiaries from ST and SC families on the occasion.
Kavinder Gupta said that the State Government is fully implementing centre’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme in letter and spirit with an aim to make every household smokeless. It is a major step to reduce indoor air pollution, drudgery faced by women and one that promises to extend LPG access, he further said.
Deputy Chief Minister said that respect for women is the basis of Ujjwala Yojana and it would bring a major change in the lifestyle of women from BPL families.
While lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his keen interest in the development of the state, Kavinder Gupta said that Centre government has been providing liberal funding to the state so that various development projects underway are completed in a time bound manner.
He also aware people about the benefits of other Centrally sponsored schemes including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya AntyodayaYojana, Digital India, Make In India, Skill India, MUDRA Bank Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme for Kerosene, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana,Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana and AMRUT Yojana.
Kavinder Gupta urged the people to come forward and avail benefit from these welfare schemes for improving their socio-economic condition.
Earlier, a deputation of Chhamb Displaced Persons Association led by its president S. R. Nagial met with Deputy Chief Minister and apprised him about their demands with regard to disbursement of rehabilitation package for Chhamb Displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971.
