Srinagar, Aug 04: Former Congress party leader and well-known diplomat Mani Shankar Aiyar while coming in defense for Article 35-A said the Union Government is playing with fire.
Aiyar said that Article 35-A should not be touched as it connects Jammu Kashmir with Union of India.
“BJP led Union Government is in threatening mode only as it has not taken concrete measures to do away with this Article. It will be better for Union Government not to touch this Article,” he said.
Aiyar said it is high time Government of India restores the autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir instead of resorting to erosion.
“I do agree with P Chidambaram that there should be an open dialogue and all the provisions of Article 370, that have been eroded from time to time after accession should be restored to original form,” he said adding there is nothing wrong in discussing such things.
