Bhubaneswar: A groom pedaled to the wedding venue as a mark of protest against the fuel hike in Bhubaneswar.

Subhranshu Samal, the groom, rode the bicycle to the wedding venue. Subhranshu was to reach his wedding venue in the same locality.

Media reports said even though his family members arranged a proper marriage procession with DJ music, he opted to reach there on a bicycle instead of in a car as done by grooms usually.

The motive behind this act was to express unhappiness over the high fuel prices and spread awareness regarding environmental pollution.

“I and my friends usually discuss the issue of rising fuel prices. They had suggested to me this unique idea of bicycling on the wedding day. The motive of this act was to express displeasure over the high fuel prices and spread awareness regarding environmental welfare,” said Subhranshu.

“The reaction of the public towards the idea was amazing. Several persons clicked selfies with me during the procession and praised me,” he added.
