Srinagar, Dec 01 : A delegation of JKEDI employees headed by  Wajahat Hussain Durrani , Vice President EJAC met Advisor to Governor K K Sharma here in Srinagar .

The delegation discussed various issues pertaining to the employees of JKEDI and that of JKEDI- EWA ( Employees Welfare Association).

In a press release issued here, the Advisor was informed that JKEDI- EWA is a recognized body affiliated with EJAC ( Employees Joint Action Committee) and works for the overall welfare of the employees of JKEDI in a democratic way.The delegation complained that the administration of JKEDI has always opposed the creation of association and time and again tried to bring down the resolutions put forth by the association.

“The administration at JKEDI has always adopted pick and choose method  for transfers, regularization of services and promotions. Employees are facing continuous threat from the administration; services of employees (contractual) are discontinued on verbal directions without serving any notice periods putting the employees under huge depression,” read the press release.

It further read that the employees are being terminated without adopting the proper procedures of setting up enquiries, asking for explanations. Contractual employees who have been shown doors are not able to start their careers afresh as no formal order is provided and experience certificate is not issued, which usually result that employee is forced to resign so as to receive experience certificate and search for other employment opportunity to feed their self and their families.

The meeting also discussed the uncertainty of future of Coordinators.

It was revealed that highly qualified coordinators working for EDI who have been working from last 4-5 years were made victim of nepotism and favouritism, as many among them were adjusted against posts while there were many who were terminated without any valid reason. It was also brought to the Advisor’s notice that the contracts of these coordinators is being extended on monthly basis so that they will never raise their voice against administration.

It was also discussed that the long standing demand of office space for JKEDI- EWA, at Head Office Pampore should be immediately considered so that they can redress grievances of aggrieved employees. President JKEDIEWA who also is Secretary EJAC has been denied homeposting and is  unjustly  transferred to far off districts  after serving more than five years of outside home postings. Demand of bringing him back with immediate effect was put forth before the Advisor .

The Advisor assured the delegation that these grievances will be taken care off and instructed the concerned that a meeting should be sought with Principal Sec Industries and Commerce to get all matters redressed at the earliest.
