Srinagar, Dec 12: The Traders Community Wednesday alleged that the main commercial hub of Srinagar City has been ignored by the authorities.

President Traders Federation Karan Nagar Ajaz Shahdhar said that the street lights of this commercial hub are defunct from past couple of years and no efforts are being made to rectify them or to make them functional, considering that Karan Nagar road leads to the premier hospitals of the state SMHS and SKIMS.

“After the sunset and in the absence of street lights, the shopkeepers windup their business much earlier than the desired time,” he said.

The Traders Federation added that high tension wires of PDD pass very close and at low height to the commercial buildings, thereby putting the lives of the people in danger. In past, there have been such instances where people got electrocuted due to low lying, old and damaged electric wires and electric poles that are yet to be replaced.

Though the effort of road widening were taken earlier, but those widened roads are yet to be macadamized leading them to damps in rains and thereby causing lot of inconvenience to general public.

The Traders Federation has sought the intervention of higher ups.
