SRINAGAR, March 14: The strike of students in government Dental College and hospital entered day 6 today against the physical and mental harassment by the HOD Dr. Mohmmad Mushtaq on Post Graduate and Under Graduate students.
Despite informing the Principal/Dean and submitting a written complaint against the said HOD no action was taken against him for two and a half months, they said.
They said that the administration has been further harassing students by forcing them to join back the department. “A circular was passed in which students were threatened of legal consequences against them:, they said.
They said that they stand by their demand of removal of Dr. Mohammad Mushtaq as the head of the Department and formation of a student union on same pattern as in other professional colleges.
After health minster’s intervention a two day enquiry has been initiated by the DDC Srinagar. The students have time and again emphasized that they are meritorious and belong to humble background and that the College administration is sleeping over the matter for past 2 and a half months.
The students said if their grievances are not addressed they will go on a hunger strike from Monday. Their final faith is rested upon the chief minister and the health minister for a fair enquiry so that their faith in the system is not only strengthened but it becomes an example for all who believe in takings stand for the injustice and harassment being done to them.
