Srinagar, Jan 16: Cyber Police Kashmir has issued a stern warning to social media users against sharing hateful content designed to incite sectarian unrest in the valley. The police emphasized that such actions are punishable under the law, and anyone found involved will face legal consequences.
“We have observed that certain hateful sectarian content, initially posted and later removed, has been downloaded and is being widely circulated by malicious individuals on social media. This behavior is under close surveillance,” the Cyber Police Kashmir stated via their official X handle.
The statement also revealed that several individuals connected to these activities have already been summoned, with strict legal measures underway.
“Several offenders have been summoned to @cyberpolicekmr, and strict legal action is being taken. We urge everyone who has downloaded or shared this harmful content to stop immediately,” the police post on X added.
Cyber Police further cautioned users, stating, “Sharing hateful content is a punishable offense. Legal action will be enforced against violators. WE ARE WATCHING.”
Additionally, the police confirmed the arrest of six individuals responsible for inciting sectarian unrest through derogatory remarks. These individuals have been detained and lodged at Central Jail Srinagar.
The Cyber Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and urged citizens to refrain from actions that could disturb communal harmony.
