COVID19: J&K breaches 500 mark, 29 new cases detected, 25 more recover

Srinagar: J&K witnessed 29 fresh cases till 4 pm on Sunday taking the overall tally of COVID-19 positive cases in the Union Territory to 523.
Like Saturday, all the new cases on Sunday too were detected in Kashmir region.
A government bulletin showed that among the fresh cases 11 were detected from Anantnag, 8 from Bandipora, 7 from Baramulla, 2 from Srinagar, and one case from Kupwara.
Twenty five more people recovered and were discharged from several hospital during the day. They included 10 from SKIMS Bemina, five from JLNM, Two from CHC Kupwara, and 8 from Chest Diseases Hospital Jammu.
“Total cases now 523. But don’t let this number daunt you. This includes 137 recoveries too. Total Active positive cases are 380. We will keep doing aggressive testing and strict containment. And you have to support by staying at home,” Government Spokesperson Rohit Kansal tweeted.
The J&K government, since the outbreak, has conducted nearly 14000 tests, the pace of which has increased in the last few days.
Besides, 66977 people have been enlisted for observation of which 49338 have completed their surveillance period.
J&K has witnessed six deaths due to the virus so far. Five of them, latest one on Saturday, have taken place in Kashmir alone.
