COVID19: 17 more test positive in J&K, 12 of them in Kashmir

Srinagar: Seventeen more persons tested positive for coronavirus in J&K on Saturday taking the number of such cases in the erstwhile state to 224.

Of the fresh cases, 12 are from Kashmir while the rest are from Jammu.

Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal confirmed the fresh cases on Twitter.

“17 new cases reported in J&K. 5 from Jammu Division and 12 from Kashmir. Total positive cases now 224,” he said.

Sources said five of the fresh cases are from Bandipora.

The five cases are all contacts –neighbours and relatives – of the elderly who passed away of the virus in Hajin area of the district earlier this week.

Confirming the five cases, an official said that one of them is a 70 year old female.

The family belongs to Gund Jahangeer area of the district

Bandipora now has 41 cases of coronavirus among which 38 are active, three have recovered and one patient has passed away.

Kashmir tally stands at 180.
