Srinagar, Nov 15: Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, Saurabh Bhagat Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review the departmental functioning in Kashmir division.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretary incharge winter session, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Labour Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Khan, CEO/Secretary Building Construction Workers Act, Muzaffar Ahmad, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Fayaz Ahmad Banday, Additional Provident Fund Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad, Asst. Provident Fun Commissioners, Assistant Labor Commissioners and Insurance Medical Officers.

Threadbare discussions were held during the meeting about the registration of shops and business units in Srinagar as well as in other districts. The Commissioner Secretary issued directions to the all Asst. Labor Commissioner for proper collection of data with regard to shops doing business, under construction shops and buildings, construction of hotels at tourist spots and other relevant issues.

Apart from reviewing the progress of the department under various Acts, the progress of digitization and online registration for ease of doing business was also reviewed and deliberations were made to make the portal of the department fully functional at the earliest.

Commissioner Secretary asked the officials to make the system in a way so that people in any corner of our State can avail the benefits. He also gave a deadline to the officials to conclude the digitization of records within 15 days.

The meeting also discussed the pendency of the court cases in Labour courts across the region. The Commissioner Secretary strictly directed the labour officers and labour inspectors that disposal of the same be made at the earliest.

At the beginning of the meeting, Commissioner Secretary also interacted with the Construction Board Workers Union and gave a patient hearing of their concerns and demands. He assured them that their issues will be sorted very soon.
