‘Bouquet, Gumshuda Sitare’ released

Srinagar, Jan 7: The writers and the authors of Kashmir need to put efforts to bring narratives of the struggle in the valley to the fore, lawyer and human rights activist, Pervez Imroz said while releasing the revised edition of ‘Bouquet: A tribute to unsung heroes of Kashmir’ and ‘Gumshuda Sitare’ by senior journalist Zahir-ud-Din.

Bouquet, according to the author, comprises brief profiles of 90 persons who fought Dogra rule and participated in the post partition struggle.

Some of the prominent names profiled in the book are GN Gilkar, KH Khurshid, Allah Rakha Sagar, Akhter Mohi-ud-Din, Muhammad Yusuf Khan, Noor Muhammad Sofi, Muhammad Sultan Khan alais Sule Galdaar.

The Urdu version ‘Gumshuda Sitare’ has 105 such profiles.  The first edition of ‘Bouquet’ was released in 2007.

Journalist and the editor of the daily Urdu, Buland Kashmir, Rashid Maqbool also reviewed the Urdu version of the book.

Zahir ud Din said the book was a tribute to all those who have sacrificed their life and luxury for the Kashmir struggle.

He discussed few stories from his book.

 “How we can forget July 13 massacre, first custodial death, dreadful night in Kunan and Poshpora.”
