Online trolls have gone hammer and tongs against Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for her looks and makeup at the Cannes Film Festival
Trolls took over the fashion Twitter and have since passed out insensitive comments about her “face job” and “botox”.
“#AishwaryaRaiBachchan looks old even with all the botox She should stop going to #cannes,” tweeted one user.
“Botox, fillers & cosmetic surgery have robbed them of their striking good looks. Wish they remained original, the world would love ‘em more. Even the best fashion brands & global red carpet events do little to enhance their looks, fame & persona. Disappointing! #Cannes,” wrote another.
“Watching even Aishwarya Rai age & a jaw that looks like botox & fillers plus being panned for her Cannes looks is proof that looks are fleeting. It is pointless chasing unreal ideals of beauty for women. Konkona, Vidya Balan, etc will continue to do well, being actors not looks,” tweeted third.
At the French Riveria, the Dhoom 2 actor chose to show up as the personification of Venus – the Roman goddess of love and beauty. She wore the Indian designer Gaurav Gupta’s designed ensemble which, at its first glance, isn’t revealing of its inspiration. However, at a close look, it does explain the halo-like element behind her head as the shell that Venus rises from Botticelli’s famous painting; The Birth Of Venus.
“Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wears The Venus Sculpture; a custom Gaurav Gupta Couture gown for the 75th Festival de Cannes. Inspired by the birth of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love, rising from the scalloped shell; she transitions from the infinite, pure as a pearl,” Gupta wrote.
The 48-year-old actor has been a constant feature at the prestigious film festival since 2005, and while her looks disappointed some this year, it is her facial features that are getting the most attention.
