Srinagar, Dec 28: Police is yet to make any breakthrough into the mysterious murder of Azim Nazir Khan, a youth from Baramulla’s Boniyar, whose body was found close to the gym he trained at, a week after he went missing on December 13.
Azim’s body was found hanging from the ceiling of a room in the building housing the gym.
The body had clear marks of torture andprima facie, it looked like a case of homicide.
On December 21, police ordered setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by DySP Headquarters Baramulla Syed Javaid, to probe the killing.
On Friday, Azim’sfamily members and relatives protested in Chandanwari area of Uri demanding justice for the murdered youth.
The protesters appealed Governor, Satya Pal Malik, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir and other higher-ups in the administration to look into the matter.
“We want justice, our protest against the cold-blooded murder of our son will continue till all the culprits involved in the crime are brought to book,” said Nazir Khan, father of the deceased.
“It has been more than 10 days now since his body was found, however, the police has not been able to provide justice to us.
“We want justice to prevail as soon as possible and perpetrators should be brought to book,” he said.
Imtiyaz Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla,said: “I cannot make a comment right now. All I can say is that the investigation is underway.”
