Bodies of two militants drowned while infiltrating back in Kashmir recovered in Gurez: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police Saturday claimed it has recovered two dead bodies from river Kishanganga in Tulail area of Gurez valley .

A police spokesperson said the dead bodies were shifted to Gurez hospital for medico-legal formalities, whicle claiming that the deceased were both local militants who had crossed the border, and drowned while infiltrating back in Kashmir.

“As per the documents recovered, one has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Yosuf Dar resident of Dogripora Pulwama. As per police records, he was missing since May-2018 and have joined proscribed militant outfit HM after crossing LoC. While the identity of the other deceased is being ascertained, and families have been called for their identification,” the spokesperson said.

“Incriminating materials and arms and ammunition were also recovered which include four AK-47 Magazine, 115 AK-47 rounds, 9 mm Pistol-9mm Rounds=17 Nos, Hand Grenade=01 No, Wireless Set=01 No, Wrist watch=04 Nos, Pouch=01 No, Jacket=01 No, Matrix sheets etc,” he said.

Preliminary investigation, the spokesperson said, revealed that both of them are local militants and were active across the border and in a bid to infiltrate back to this side both of them have died due to drowning while crossing the river.

“Case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress,” he said.
