Srinagar, May 01: Joint Hurriyat Tuesday condemned the killing of three Baramulla youth while also the leadership has appealed to the United Nations (UN) to set up an impartial inquiry into these killings.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday in a series of tweets condemned the killings which took place on Monday evening in which three youth were killed.
In his first tweet, Mirwaiz wrote: “JRL strongly condemns killing of 3 Youth in Baramulla, any killing on grounds of political or party affiliations is inhuman and unislamic and unacceptable to people and leadership of #Kashmir. while the state authorities conveniently blame armed youth, their organisations in fact.. (sic).”
Later in a statement, the Joint Hurriyat expressed concern and condemnation over the killing of three youth from old town Baramulla.
The leadership trio, as per the statement, said that time and again people are killed in such a manner and “no one knows who kills them as the killers remain unidentified gunmen.”
“While the state authorities conveniently blame armed youth, the militant organisation condemns the killings and many a time blame state agencies. In the process the culprits never get identified,” the Joint Hurriyat said.
The leadership said that it was a matter of serious concern and needed to be investigated “appealing the UN to take note of this and set up an impartial inquiry into these killings.”
“Any killing on grounds of political or party affiliations is inhuman and un-Islamic and unacceptable to people and leadership of Kashmir,” the Joint Hurriyat reiterated.
The joint leadership also strongly condemned the “outrageous and inhuman” statement by the newly appointed Dy CM Kavinder Gupta of BJP that the gruesome rape and murder of 8-year-old girl from Kathua was a “small matter” which was given importance.
“It reflects the sick communal mindset and value structure of the ‘proud RSS man’”, the leadership trio said.
“Inducting another organizer of the pro-rapist rallies Rajiv Jasrotia into the government clearly shows that BJP does not believe in deviating from its politics of polarisation and appeasement of certain communities for votes, even on a basic human issue like this, which is not surprising,” the statement read.
