Afridi reveals his plans regarding a possible return to international cricket

Mumbai:Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi isn’t stranger to making comebacks from retirement but has now made it clear that he won’t be returning to international cricket again.
In his final international appearance, Afridi led World XI in a charity T20 game against the West Indies at Lord’s . During the match, former England captain and commentator Nasser Hussain jokingly asked the big-hitting Pakistan all-rounder if he had plans for another comeback.
“No, that’s it. You can see my situation with the injury,” Afridi replied with a smile.
Afridi also received a guard of honour from players during the match. Terming it an unforgettable moment, the 38-year-old said it was great to receive it at the home of cricket.
“That’s something I’ll never forget. For that to happen at the home of cricket, it’s massive. The cause was everything tonight, and to have been able to help, it’s fantastic.
“Thanks to everyone who came out and supported this,” he said.
The match was played to raise funds to rebuild cricket grounds in Anguilla and Dominica which were damaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria that caused a great deal of devastation in the Caribbean Islands in September 2017.
West Indies won the match comfortably by 72 runs. Batting first, they scored a mammoth 199/4 with Evin Lewis smashing 58 off 26 balls. In reply, World XI got off to a horrid start as they lost their first four wickets for only 8 runs.
Though Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera hit some lusty blows on his way to a 61 off 37 balls, World XI could never recover from the early loss of wickets and were bowled out for 127 in 16.4 overs. Afridi took 1 wicket and scored 11 runs in the game.
All the players donated their match fees to charity. In addition to it, Afridi donated USD 20,000 from his foundation to the Hurricane relief fund.
