SRINAGAR, MARCH 06: As part of ongoing efforts to ensure food safety across Srinagar city and rural areas of District Srinagar, a team from the Food Safety Wing of the Drug Control Organization, Srinagar, along with the Food Safety Officer ICLC, conducted intensive inspections at Brain and Nishat. Another team, along with allied departments, carried out joint market checks at Pantha Chowk, Khanmoh, and other rural areas of Srinagar, including Fakir Gujri. The team also collected samples of various food items for analytical purposes.
During the inspections, several Food Business Operators (FBOs) were found operating without valid registrations and licenses. Additionally, poor hygiene conditions were observed at some establishments, prompting the department to take action. Eight Food Business Operators were compounded under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act for non-compliance.
The department will continue its drives across Srinagar city and rural areas of District Srinagar to ensure that food quality meets the standards set by the Food Safety and Standards Act.
