Srinagar, Feb 09: Family members of 22-year-old youth, who has gone missing from February 2, have urged their son to return home and appealed government to help them in tracing him.
Asif Ahmad War, resident of Warpora Spore has been missing since February 02 when he left his home to offer Asar prayer while keeping his mobile phone at home.
Asif’s elder brother, Mudasir war told The Kashmir Monitor over phone that on Saturday at 4.30 in the afternoon, Asif left home to offer prayers in mosque as the part of his daily routine. “However, after Nimaz, he didn’t return to his home.”
Mudasir lamented that many of our friends and neighbors have spotted him roving in the village in the same evening hours after which he went missing.
Asif was the lone breadwinner for his family which included his handicapped father, an ailing mother, and an unmarried sister.
His elder brother Mudasir is married and lives separately.
After coming to know that Asif has not returned home, his handicapped father, Ghulam Nabi War tried his mobile number. However, soon he came to know that his son has kept phone at home.
Unable to make any contact with their son, anxious family started search in the neighborhood.
“In the Sunday morning we called our relatives and friends and everyone we could think of to know if they had any information about Asif, but nobody had any clue of where he might have gone,” said Mudasir with a heavy voice.
Mudasir and Asif worked in the fruit mandi, Spore. “I am accountant in the Spore Fruit Mandi, where Asif worked as a labourer,” Mudasir informed.
Negating the theories that Asif might have joined militant ranks, Mudasir said, “I don’t think that could be the case as I have never seen such kind of inclinations in him. He does not even talk about any such things either,” Mudasir added.
The missing son has left the family shattered who are pleading their son and militants for immediate return.
“We appeal our son, for the sake of your handicapped father please don’t leave us like this and return home as soon as possible, we cannot live without you,” said Ghulam Nabi while breaking in tears.
“If he is with any militant outfit, we request them that please send our son back to his home. He is very innocent. We don’t have any support except him,” wails Asif’s mother.
War family has also registered a missing report of their son in the nearest police station.
Speaking to The Kashmir Monitor, Senior Superintendent of Police, spore, Javaid Iqbal, said, “We are investigating the matter. We cannot reach to any conclusion whether he has joined militancy or not.”
