Srinagar, Nov 20: Food Minister Satish Sharma on Wednesday said the people of Jammu and Kashmir will receive 12 gas cylinders and an enhanced ration quota as a New Year gift.
Sharma said that the administration has made all necessary preparations for the winter season.
Sharma also emphasized that restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir remains a priority, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah having already engaged with senior leadership in New Delhi. “I believe that Prime Minister Modi is personally committed to restoring statehood, and after that, all other issues will be addressed,” Sharma said.
The Minister requested 11 months to bridge the gaps left over the past 11 years, stressing that while the administrative officers are capable, a few deficiencies remain that will soon be rectified.
“Essential supplies have already been stockpiled, but we must remain alert to face any challenges this winter,” he added. Meanwhile, Sharma announced three three-month free ration for blaze victims of Dal Lake, Srinagar.
During the election campaign, the National Conference had promised to increase the number of gas cylinders to 12 and double the ration quota for people. After completing one month in power, the government is finalizing plans to fulfill the promises made to the people. Ration quota, increasing gas cylinders, and free 200 units of power are the main planks.
