Srinagar, April 01: Chairman PDF Hakeem Yaseen has ridiculed statement of BJP president Amit Shah that Article 35-A would be removed by 2020. He said that Article 35-A and Art.370 are untouchable adding that tinkering with it shall have disastrous consequences for the whole country.

In a statement issued to media, Hakeem Yaseen has said that everybody in the country knows that Art.35-A is the main condition for state’s accession with India, ridiculing that BJP president’s remarks about removing Article 35-A, at the time of ongoing Parliamentary elections, were ill-conceived and a vain effort to hoodwink public opinion for electoral gains.

Hakeem Yaseen has also castigated political parties of the state for shedding crocodile tears on Art.35-A for vote bank politics. He said if political parties at the helm of affairs are really concerned about honour and integrity of the state, they should be united and start a vigorous movement for restoration of Pre-1953 position for the state.

He said that the political parties at the helm of affairs in the state, instead of shedding crocodile tears about safeguarding Article 35-A and Article 370, should strive for restoration of pre-1953 position which enshrines greater autonomy for the state. He said everybody at international and national levels know that Article 35-A and Article 370 are untouchable and tinkering with these articles would end states accession with the Center. He reiterated that tinkering with Article 35 amounts to striking axe on one’s own legs adding that no sane person in the country can afford to do such a misadventure.
