Geelani, Hurriyat (M) denounce arrest of separatist leaders

Srinagar, March 25: Hurriyat (g) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat (m) on Monday condemned the mass crackdown and arrest of Hurriyat leaders and activists, booking them under PSA and shifting them to outside jails, terming it as a sheer “political vendetta and totalitarian.”

In a statement, Geelani said, “The rhetoric of Delhi being the world’s largest democracy is mere hoax and deceit as its highhandedness has tarnished every fabric of democratic norm.”

Condemning the shifting of Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Hamid Fayaz to Kuthwa and crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami, JKLF and other Hurriyat leaders and activists, Hurriyat chairman said that every political event brings a bad of worries and miseries for the helpless inmates of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (m) in a statement condemned the ban on JKLF and said raids being conducted on front activists and leaders across Kashmir in an open attempt to crush the peoples’ genuine right to dissent.

Hurriyat also strongly condemned the fresh assault on the Kashmiri engineering student in Bangalore stating that the way Kashmiri students studying in various parts of India are being intimidated, harassed and thrashed, it is forcing them to come back and leave their colleges which putting their future at stake. It said that the primary responsibility of the governments of these states where Kashmiri students are studying is to ensure the safety and security of all the Kashmiri students so that they are not forced to flee.

Hurriyat also denounced repeated CASO in Shopian villages and said that irrespective of their age including the youth are being harassed and intimidated and caused great inconvenience.
